For people or organizations just starting on their lean journey, there are concepts, jargon, and worldview that are new and are hard to remember. Thankfully, Pascal Dennis1, a respected thought-leader in Lean (Toyota Production System) developed easy reference cards.
These cards are cute and a bit cheesy, but the intended audience are individuals and organizations that are just starting out in their Lean journey, learning the toolkit tools of lean. For that audience, I think the lean easy reference pocket cards fulfills its purpose.
Here’s the official description:
Topics covered include: Strategy Deployment, Waste, Visual Order (5S), Visual Control, Standardized Work, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Problem Solving, Problem Solving Tools, Kaizen, Kanban, Poka Yoke, and Quick Changeover.
Lean Tools Pocket Cards are made out of tear-resistant, waterproof card stock to withstand daily use. Cards are 3 3/8″ x 5 3/8″, bound at the top by one clip ring to allow customers to change the sequence to suite their needs.
Below are examples of the cards:
- Pascal is a professional engineer, author, and advisor to companies making the lean leap. He developed his lean skills at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and by working with lean masters in North America and Japan. In leadership positions at TMMC, he supported the launching of several new models and the hiring and training of 2,000 new team members. He has supported lean implementation at leading international companies in sectors as diverse as automotive, process industries, heavy equipment, construction, and health care. The focus of his lean implementation work is strategic planning and execution (strategy deployment), quality, delivery and cost management, health and safety, and business process improvement. Pascal Dennis is author of Lean Production Simplified, Andy & Me Crisis and Transformation on the Lean Journey, and the LEI publication Getting the Right Things Done a Leader’s Guide to Planning and Execution, which all won Shingo Research Prizes. Pascal aids companies implementing lean through Lean Pathways, Inc. ↩
